Wild Surges

The short answer

A Wild Surge is a swarm of Aniimo that gathers at a Bloom when you nurture that area. Once you hold the area's Bronze Collection Badge, nurture it from the map. Go to the marked Bloom, attract the Aniimo and catch as many as you can in three minutes. Every nurture adds Prismatic Energy toward a Prismana Flow. Bonus: a surge can hold an Umbral Aniimo with Perfect Potential. Bring Tumblers, because they roll through several Aniimo at once and get ×6 on surge targets.

Start a Wild Surge

  1. Earn the area's Bronze Collection Badge by catching 40% of the Aniimo native to it. Until then, Nurture stays locked in that area.
  2. Open the map and press Deliver Lumin Amber at the bottom right. Then press Nurture at the bottom left of the Infusion screen.
  3. Pick the area. Want to choose which Aniimo come? Press the + in the center and add an offering.
  4. Press Nurture. Your free nurtures get used first, then Vein Essence.
  5. Travel to the Bloom marked on the map. Choose the option to attract Aniimo, and the surge starts.
  6. Catch as many as you can. The surge ends when every Aniimo is caught, or when the Bloom's three minutes run out.
  7. Last, go back to the Bloom and release the Prismatic Energy into the area.

What a surge gives you

RewardHow it works
Prismatic EnergyEach nurture adds a fixed amount to the area. Release it at the Bloom after the surge; a full gauge starts a Prismana Flow, and a Prismana is guaranteed once it is full.
A chance of an Umbral AniimoSurges started by nurturing can include an Umbral Aniimo, which always has Perfect Potential. It is a chance, not a promise.
A chance of an instant Prismana FlowA nurture paid for with Vein Essence has a 3% chance to start a Prismana Flow straight away, and the chance is the same on every nurture.
Lucky StrikesAny catch can become a Lucky Strike: 20 Sparkling Crystals, a little more Prismatic Energy for the area, and sometimes a Prismana Flow on the spot.
Windborn StampsWild Surges are one of the weekly Stamp Rush activities, which pay Windborn Stamps.
Aniimo EXPEvery catch pays EXP. Swap a low level Aniimo into your party during the surge to level it quickly.
Tip

Throw Tumblers during a surge. You steer a Tumbler along the ground, through several Aniimo at once. Its catch bonus also rises from ×2 to ×6 on Aniimo gathered by a nurture.

Offerings and Blooms

An offering decides which Aniimo the Bloom attracts. But it doesn't make the surge any better. A higher quality offering won't give you a higher quality surge.

Each Bloom is linked to an Aniimo family. So different Blooms attract different Aniimo.

Umbral Aniimo in surges

Umbral Aniimo are dark, starry versions with glowing pink eyes. They always have Perfect Potential. Nurture surges are one place they appear. They also turn up rarely in the open world. And Umbral eggs always hatch one. You get these eggs from Operation: Egg Heist, or from egg nests you dig up while exploring.

Watch out: evolving an Umbral Aniimo removes its dark look forever. Its Perfect Potential stays, though.

Free nurtures and Vein Essence

You get three free nurtures, and they refill over time. Once you've used them, nurtures cost Vein Essence.

You get Vein Essence from each area's collection reward, once you catch 40% of its Aniimo. Weston, the Mysterious Vendor in Astra, sometimes sells it too.

Wild Surges, answered

What is a Wild Surge in Aniimo?

It's a swarm of Aniimo that gathers at a Bloom after you nurture that area. You get a short time to catch as many as you can.

How do you start a Wild Surge?

Open the map and choose Deliver Lumin Amber, then Nurture, and pick an area. Go to the Bloom marked on the map, then attract the Aniimo to begin.

Why can't I nurture an area?

You need that area's Bronze Collection Badge first. Nurture only opens once you hold it. You earn it by catching 40% of the Aniimo native to that area.

How long does a Wild Surge last?

A Wild Surge lasts three minutes. Until the September 23 update, Blooms stayed in bloom for two minutes. The surge also ends as soon as every Aniimo is caught.

Can you get Umbral Aniimo from Wild Surges?

Yes. Surges started by nurturing can include an Umbral Aniimo, which always has Perfect Potential. But it's only a chance, not a guarantee.

What is the best Aniipod for a Wild Surge?

The Tumbler is best. It rolls through several Aniimo at once. It also gets ×6 on Aniimo gathered by a nurture, instead of its usual ×2.

Do offerings make a Wild Surge better?

No. An offering only changes which Aniimo the Bloom attracts. A higher quality offering won't give you a higher quality surge.

How many free nurtures do you get?

You get three, and they refill over time. After that, nurtures cost Vein Essence.

Do Wild Surges help you get Prismana?

Yes. Each nurture adds Prismatic Energy to the area, and a full gauge starts a Prismana Flow. Bonus: a nurture paid with Vein Essence also has a 3% chance to start a Flow right away.
