Catching, answered

How is catch chance worked out in Aniimo?

The official formula multiplies a Base Chance by the Aniipod, the level gap and, depending on the situation, the target’s HP (in combat) or a back attack (outside combat), then a special status multiplier. At 100% or more the catch always succeeds.

What does each Aniipod do to catch chance?

Aniipod x1, Aniipod Pro x1.5, Aniipod Hyper, Trace and Mega x2, Tumbler x2 (x6 on Wild Surge targets). Aniipod Ultra and the Sparkling Cube always succeed.

Does catching from behind help?

Yes, outside combat. A valid back attack multiplies the chance by 1.5 with a standard Aniipod. Tumblers do not get the back attack bonus.

Does lowering HP raise catch chance?

In combat, yes: full HP is x0.8, 50% HP is x1.1, 10% is x1.26, 5% is x1.65 and 0% is x2.

Can you catch Aniimo that are much higher level?

Up to 10 levels above you there is no penalty. At 11 levels above the chance is x0.8, then x0.6, x0.4, x0.2, and x0.1 at 15 or more. Being higher level than the Aniimo gives no bonus.

How do you catch an Alpha?

A common Alpha cannot be caught while it is alive. After it is defeated its Base Chance is 6%, multiplied by the Aniipod and any special status.

What happens when an Aniimo has several statuses?

They do not stack. If any active multiplier is below 1, the lowest one applies. Otherwise the highest one applies.

Why does a standard Aniipod shake twice?

With a standard Aniipod on a single target the game runs two checks, each at the square root of the Final Chance, and both must pass. Together they still equal the Final Chance.
