Exploring Idyll

Budclaw, moving, official art
The short answer

Blooms are the map nodes of Idyll. Walk up to one and press E, and a whole section of the map opens with the Sanctums, Nurture Points, Pathfinder Challenges and Aniimo Nests inside it. Blooms you have not synced show greyed out on the map, which is how you hunt the next one. Fast travel arrives with your first Bloom during Pathfinder Training: open the map, pick a Bloom or an Outpost, teleport. Puzzles are the other half of exploration, and each one wants a specific ability or element from whichever Aniimo you are Twined with.

Unlock the map and fast travel

  1. Play the main story to Setting Out Again, the quest that formally opens the map feature.
  2. Finish the first part of Pathfinder Training. Touching your first Bloom switches the Map on and registers your first fast travel point, an Outpost.
  3. Walk up to a Bloom and press E on PC to sync it.
  4. Read what the sync revealed: a large section of map, plus its Sanctums, Nurture Points, Pathfinder Challenges and Aniimo Nests, where eggs are collected.
  5. To travel, open the Map Menu with M on PC, pick a Bloom or fast travel point, and choose Teleport.
  6. Hunt the next one by looking for greyed out Bloom icons on the map.

How to spot what is worth stopping for

  • Sparkling lights: usually a collectible or a nest.
  • Jumping flowers, burning hedges and burrows. Each one is a traversal puzzle with something behind it.
  • Rock pillars and gnarled trees. The same, on a larger scale.
  • Greyed out Bloom icons on the map. Unsynced, and each one opens a new section.
  • Every fast travel point you walk past. Activate it. Later quests and collection tasks send you back through the same ground.

Blooms, Outposts and Transporters

Blooms, Outposts and Transporters are all fast travel points: sync one, then teleport to it from the map. Your first is the Outpost, and the Unstuck setting sends you back to an activated Transporter.

Each region also has a Branch, where you turn in its collectibles, such as Lumin Amber.

Every mobility skill

The mobility skills guideEvery mobility skill, with every Aniimo that has each one.
Tip

Stuck in terrain? The Unstuck option in the game settings teleports you to the nearest activated Transporter, so a bad landing is never a lost session.

Not confirmed yet

  • How many Blooms each region holds, and how many there are across Idyll.
  • Whether fast travel costs anything, and whether it works in combat or inside instances.
  • Whether a Branch is a separate structure or part of a Bloom's full in game name.
